Home » Credit Check » Why does my credit score change even when I don’t take new loans?
Tagged: credit behaviour, credit score change, score factors
Even without taking a new loan, your credit score can move because your credit report keeps updating in the background every month. Biggest reason is credit card usage. If your card utilisation went up (you used more of your limit) your score can dip, and when you pay it down it can bounce back. Another common reason is reporting timing. Banks update EMIs and card data in monthly cycles, so one month your report may show higher outstanding, next month it shows paid, and score changes accordingly. Small things like a new hard enquiry (you checked eligibility somewhere, applied for a card, or a lender did a check) can cause a short-term drop too. Also, if an old account got updated late, or a closed loan still shows active, that can shift your score even though you did nothing new. Simple fix is to keep utilisation low, pay bills before due date, avoid multiple applications together, and check your report once in a while for errors. Score ka up-down normal hai, trend matters more than one month movement.
