Having multiple credit cards in India is not automatically good or bad; it depends on how you manage them. If you use them responsibly, 2–3 cards can actually help because you get a higher total credit limit, which keeps utilisation low, and you build a longer repayment track record. But if multiple cards mean you’re juggling bills, converting spends to EMIs, or paying only the minimum due, it becomes risky fast. The real danger is missed payments and high utilisation, not the number of cards. A simple thumb rule: keep only as many cards as you can track easily, keep utilisation low, pay full on time, and avoid applying for many cards in a short period. If one card has high fees and you don’t use it, close that one and keep older no-fee cards active for credit history.
